In the name of freedom
We shall rule the world
To spread democracy
And set you free

To make you civilized
Modern and orderly

If you don’t challenge us
Or declare independence
You can be whatever

But if not compliant
We’ll shout at you
With a very high pitch
Paint over your picture
Using bait and switch
Slime your reputation
And deny your degree

If we can’t control you
We’ll impose heavy sanctions
Until you say uncle
Or make you plea

If still defiant
We’ll just detain
Totally surround you
Or declare you insane
Place you in solitary
And throw away the key

Who cares about the bill of rights
The Geneva Conventions or human rights
We’ll scare the hell out of you
Release the attack dogs
And rule by decree

In the name of democracy
Bomb people from high above
Without concern or any courage
But if you die or get maimed
It’s just collateral damage
We’ll acquire all the fancy weapons
While on a shopping spree
Washing our hands of your blood
As if sipping coffee or a cup of tea

This is not about “them”
And definitely not about me
This is about all of us
He, she, you and we

In the name of freedom
They suck the air
Out of the atmosphere
Pump the water
Out of the sea
Poison the honey
While smashing the flower
And killing the bee
They slaughter the animals
Crush the plants
And uproot the tree

How else can they get the spoils
To dig and take the oil
Pay peanuts to their agents
And stick you with the fee

They’ll drink your water
Take away your food
Make you sweat
Suck your blood
Leave you dry
Without even letting you pee

In the name of freedom
You must follow our ways
Can’t escape or hope to flee
Our hand is long
Don’t ever test us
Or you shall see

Whether in Afghanistan or Palestine
Iraq, Latin America or Haiti
They continue to deny the truth
Create disinformation and falsity
Turning friendship and goodwill
Into longtime hatred and enmity

But we say in one voice
In solidarity and unity
Stop the double standard
Your aggression, false compassion and small pity
Restore our rights
Treat us with respect
Preserve our honor and dignity

With great faith and determination
Our shackles will be broken
And we’ll set ourselves free
Only then we’d gain our real freedom
And celebrate it with glee
