O Ole Jerusalem
I feel your pain
I hear your cries
The light thunder
In the darkness
And the heavy rain
I see the steady bleeding
Of your wound
With its mark and stain
I smell your Jasmine
The sweets of Ramadan
I hear your church bells
And the call to Azan*
The quiet sounds coming
From the wood cane
Of the old man
I see your children smile
Playing hide and seek
As they jumped and ran
I see Abraham walking
In heavenly light
Making the covenant
And blessing every sight
I hear David praying
And singing the Psalms
Condemning treacherous behavior
And calling for alms
I see the Virgin Mary
Struggling with childbirth pain
Her prayers being answered
Not going in vain
I walk the Rue de la Rosa
Following the steps of Jesus
In his pursuit of Justice
Challenging all of us
I see Prophet Muhammad
Making the journey at night
Ascending to heaven
In the holy flight
O Ole Jerusalem
I came to visit you
On a certain date
Kissing your ground
Walking through the gate
I see you crying
From the spewing hate
But this shall not continue
We will change your fate
I pray at Al-Aqsa
And the Dome of the Rock
The Church of the Holy Sepulcher
In every corner and block
Huddled with the faithful
Bowing around the clock
I touch your buildings
The short and the tall
History in the making
Big events and small
You’re being suffocated
Surrounded by the wall
They may scheme against you
But you shall not fall
O Ole Jerusalem
Don’t worry and smile
We’re all behind you
From the sea to the ocean
And the Euphrates to the Nile
