She prayed and begged
By day and night
O’ my Lord
I offer my thanks
And gratitude
And keenly pledge
What’s in my womb
To the Almighty
In servitude
But once she delivered
She was astonished
And surprised
It was a girl
A beautiful girl
Cherished and prized
So she said somberly
My Lord it’s a girl
I shall name her Mary
And keep my pledge
Not break or vary
Her face was shining
Like a majestic pearl
More precious than golden money
A kind loving heart
A sweet pious character
Purer than honey
Mary grew up
Like no other
Faithful and chaste
Service to the Lord
Was her solemn vow
No time to waste
One day in the sanctuary
Came down the spirit
Inviolate and holy
Proclaiming a son
Blessed with the word
With greatest honor
And glory
An awesome trial
Was destined
For faith and endurance
With one blow
She was pregnant
Although no one
Had ever touched
Crying and distressed
Though abundant in forbearance
Would people ever believe
In her pristine
And innocence?
Lonely and in pain
The most honored of all
Gave birth to the son
The prince of peace
The heir to the call
But the disgraceful wicked
Had condemned and convicted
Without searching their soul
What shall one do
When faced with
A false charge?
But to put faith and trust
In the Almighty
Like the Virgin Mary
The best example
To humanity
Forever the triumph
Of the innocent
Over falsehood
Illusory and shameful
But looming large
